👋 Welcome to Starlit Studio Store! I'm Han, the artist behind the artwork. I am a contemporary artist based in Southern California, specializing in acrylic, oil, ink and pastel paintings. I explore the juxtaposition of light and dark, through the interplay between contrasting colors, lines and fluidity.
🖼️ My love for art began early, thanks to my father, a painter and classical guitarist. Almost four decades ago, I immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam. Amid the challenges of starting fresh in a new country, art became my sanctuary. I went on to earn an Art History degree from UC Berkeley, where my studies deepened my understanding and passion for the arts.
📖 I’ve always been drawn to books, fantasy, and darker themes, and in 2007, during college, I discovered World of Warcraft—a world that continues to hold a special place in my heart. After graduating, I pursued a career in corporate marketing. But during the pandemic, after 17 years away from my easel, I rediscovered my love for painting, and I haven’t looked back since.
💡My work explores themes of growth, transformation, and the human condition, with the goal of sparking joy and reflection. I’ve been honored to showcase my pieces in galleries, win awards, and even be recognized as “Best in Show.”
✨ The name "Starlit Studio" is a tribute to my younger self, a dreamer who found comfort under the night sky. The stars provided a sense of continuity during transitional points in my life and they were a reminder to continue dreaming during trying times.
🏖️ I live in Southern California with my husband, our son, a sweet dog named Asher, and our friendly bearded dragon named Dash. I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope you find something in my shop that brings you as much joy as I felt creating it.
