Welcome to Steampunk Interiors, home of the ORIGINAL Steampunk gear/lever light switch cover! I am dedicated to providing helpful, timely customer service and quality products, and my customer reviews reflect that! My light switch covers are made using heavy-duty quarter inch steel, so they are built to last forever. Quarter inch steel also ensures an authentic industrial look.
My gear-shaped light switches ONLY work with toggle switches (the kind you flick up and down with your finger), but I do offer designs that will accommodate a variety of switches. If you have questions about compatibility, please feel free to contact me. If you already have toggle light switches, it is very easy to install one of my light switch covers. Simply unscrew your current plate, put the spacer against the wall behind the light switch cover (this ensures that there are no wobbles), fit my design on top of that, making sure the lever part encloses the toggle, and screw it in. It's very easy.
If you don't already have toggle switches, I am happy to throw them in, free of charge, with any order of a light switch cover. Just let me know if you need one by sending me a convo or an email.
I am no longer offering the rusted version of my light switch covers. However, I am still offering the rusted version on duplex outlet covers, rocker covers and blanks. If you prefer the rusted look, I am offering an "un-oiled" version of my light switch covers. Instead of oiling them with WD40 to prevent rusting, I clean them and then leave them un-oiled. You can then create your own rusting solution. I recommend 16oz hydrogen peroxide, 2oz white vinegar, and ½ tablespoon of salt. Mix this solution in a spray bottle, shake it up so that everything mixes well, and then spray your light switch cover. You will probably need to give it two coats and then let it sit for a couple of days so the rusting really sets in. Then, use clear matte spray paint to set the rust and keep it from transferring to your hands. Alternatively, you can purchase a sprayable rust patina from www.steelfxpatinas.com. Just spray your light switch cover and wait a few days.
Unfortunately, I am not accepting custom orders right now. However, I have a variety of unusual configurations in stock from past custom orders, so feel to send me a message because I might already have what you are looking for.
In most cases, please allow 3-5 business days before items ship. Very large orders may take longer.
Thanks for stopping by!

5 out of 5 starsAmazing quality. Extremely easy to assemble. Exactly what I was looking for in my cinema themed living room. I felt like it was giving dr Frankenstein vibes. Would definitely buy a few more of these when I purchase a house.

5 out of 5 starsThis is, by far, the coolest thing I have bought in a long time. The wall plate is heavy duty and beautiful. NOT 3d printed. The "clunk" you get from flipping the switch is so satisfying.

4 out of 5 starsVery very cool and looks great in my steampunk office. It was easy to install and instantly upgraded the decor. It's really well made , which is should be because of the price, which is a bit steep in my opinion. It is really heavy duty though, so much that the weight of the lever causes it to toggle the switch.

Light switches should be oiled (I prefer to use WD40) at least once a year in order to prevent rusting.
Sizing details
My light switches with levers ONLY work with toggle switches (the kind you flick up and down with your finger). It's easy to change from a dimmer or other type of light switch to a toggle switch.
Are these safe?
Any properly installed and functioning light switch has a safety ground. There should be no dangerous voltages anywhere near a properly functioning switch. The toggle switch itself is plastic, which is also an insulator. Whenever you are working with electricity, however, it’s always a good idea to turn off the breaker and double check your wires to make sure the insulation on your wiring is intact, and that the ground is connected to the switch. If the copper wire is exposed, or if the insulation is cut, you could get a shock due to faulty wiring.
Before installing, please ensure that your current light switches are functioning properly, that your switch is grounded, and that there are no loose wire connections.
