This cane is a work of art. It is currently the best looking one I own. I started using a cane full time last August. My first one was a bark on birch hiking stick (Mr Stick) which I've had since 1980 and I cut down to 36 in. While looking for "how to" videos I came across Blackthorns. My first one (Mr Blackthorn) I found in an antique store in Leadville CO. I take all my canes out walking. Knob comfort determines how far I walk. Mr Holly is a very long walker. One of the best handling sticks I've bought so far. I generally don't go this long about my purchases but Jack sent a brief history note. The first I've received since getting hooked on Irish sticks. Would definitely buy from Jack again.

This walking stick is absolutely amazing. The craftsmanship is top-tier, but what made it truly special was the letter from Jack, the maker. Learning about the history and origin of the wood turned a great walking stick into a cherished keepsake. It’s perfect!

I got this as a Valentine’s Day gift for my fiancé. We are both part of the Irish diaspora, he is half and I am full. I always try to help him connect to and honor those roots in any way I can and I knew this would be a gorgeous way to do it. The stick itself is stunning—I almost don’t have words for it. It’s truly a work of art. And Mr. Jack included an incredible and detailed handwritten letter about how he made this stick, where its tree was from, how he dried and seasoned it for 3 years… The craftsmanship that went into this one stick, and that this artist knows every step of it like a part of his own body, warmed me like no other object I have ever held in my hands. Mr. Jack, your love for your craft and your respect for every aspect of it gave my fiancé and I goosebumps. I wish I could buy 100 of them!
