Living the Sewing Dream
I'm pretty sure I was destined to sew! My grandmother taught me to use a sewing needle when I was only 4 years old. I always made clothes for my dolls when I was young, and then for myself when I got older.
In high school, I began sewing formal dresses--and I discovered a love! I then wanted to be a Fashion Designer, and even participated in fashion design competitions. Sadly, I could not afford design school.
So I went to Grace College, and 3 years later graduated with a double major in Business Administration & International Business. One summer, I studied abroad, travelling all over Europe (!!!!!!) and fell in love with European fashion (which is EVERYWHERE, by the way).
In college, I started my Etsy shop as an outlet for my sewing passion, but only had time to work on it in the summers. Borrowing from my grandma's huge fabric stash, I created skirts and purses from vintage cotton. My vintage cotton pieces are all unique, and so special!
A few weeks after college commencement, I married my best friend, Parker! <3 He allows me to use my business degree to work at growing my Etsy shop into a sustainable business!
Though I sew a variety of things for StitchPrincess (purses, aprons, etc.), my real passion is clothing. I still want to be a Fashion Designer!
So, please, stay tuned as I turn my focus to high-quality, modest & trendy women's clothing!
P.S. Let's talk about WEDDINGS!!!
I made everything for my own wedding, even the vests & bow ties for the groomsmen! :) Since then, I've made many more wedding and bridesmaid dresses! Plus, I've altered hundreds of wedding and bridesmaid dresses.
Weddings are my favorite! Dresses, ties, garters, pillows--I love it all! I would love to work with you to coordinate your handmade dream wedding.
