It all started with a neon orange ball of yarn.
Stitches In Bloom, a company of quality, handmade, modern yet classic knit and crochet wear was created in 2016 however, owner, Caitlin Eroh, had a love for yarn long before then.
When Caitlin was little, her grandfather took her to the store and told her she could pick anything she wanted. After looking around, they walked down an aisle containing ball after ball of yarn, in all different colors. Caitlin picked up a ball of neon orange yarn and handed it to him. She could have anything she wanted. Out of the whole store, she wanted that neon orange yarn so, that’s what she got. Once home, Caitlin’s grandfather cut up matchstick length pieces of the yarn for her to play with. Every time Caitlin saw her grandfather, he’d give her another piece. Later, these yarn pieces would be discovered in the laundry, between the couch cushions and scattered throughout her bed. She would play with them in her hand and call them her “fuzzies”. They were her security blanket. To this day, some 30 odd years later, there are multiple tattered pieces of neon orange yarn stored safely inside a folded baby blanket.
Caitlin’s knowledge for “our grandparents crafts” comes from her grandmother, Edna. Edna has been an avid sewer, knitter, quilter and more throughout her life and passed each of these skills on to Caitlin. Knitting was the skill Caitlin continued to return to throughout the years so she was able to teach herself to crochet rather quickly.
The love of yarn that started at the department store with her grandfather and the family skills passed along from generations by her grandmother, led Caitlin to be the owner and creator of Stitches In Bloom.
