Stonetrigger Press is located in the the high desert of Abiquiu, NM where I spend 3 months a year. Stonetrigger East is also located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY where I am the other 9 months. All prints are hand carved and hand printed by me, the artist, Hilary Lorenz.

Building the Dream One Print at a Time

Welcome to Stone Trigger Press . My dream was to build my own printmaking studio in the high desert of Northern New Mexico. In 2011 I bought a small stone house off Craig's list in Abiquiu and began building my studio out of mud and stone from the land. The windows and doors were all salvage. My 750 sq ft studio, facing south is heated and cooled by passive solar is lit by natural light so there is no need for electricity. In true 17th century fashion I have hand crank etching presses, beautiful light and great mountain views. I am building the dream of living full time in the desert one print at a time.

Part of the year I am in NYC where I am a Professor in the Visual Arts Department at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. While I love Brooklyn, my real dream is to move to New Mexico full time to work in my gorgeous studio, hike the trails, run in the mountains, and ski through the winter.

Lorenz is a multidisciplinary artist who explores intersections of running, nature, and solitude. She founded Stonetrigger Press in Abiquiu, NM. Hilary splits her time between Brooklyn, where she is a printmaking professor and rural New Mexico.
