I'm Julie, and I started Strength and Light in 2016, back when I had four young boys, a faith I was still learning to lean on, and not much else I felt sure of.
I'm a single mom. I'm also a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault. For a long stretch, my life felt like a door that had closed. Scripture is what carried me through, and building this little shop gave me a reason to get up in the morning. Psalm 27:1 became my anchor: "The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?" That verse is where the name comes from.
What began as a few Christian tees grew into something bigger. Now it's tees and sweatshirts, mugs for quiet morning coffee, tote bags, phone cases, and Bible study guides you can actually sit down and use. Every piece carries Scripture, because I trust the Word to do far more than any design could on its own.
These days the center of all of it sits closer to home: raising godly sons. I have four. Psalm 68:5 calls God "a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows," and I have watched Him be exactly that for us. If you're a mom raising a son to know Christ in the ordinary day to day of it, you're the reason I make these things. Wear the verse. Bring it up at the kitchen table. Build your home on purpose.
