Announcement
Hello!
You'll notice my shop is empty. I took a break from Etsy in 2018 as I am a hobby seller with a full-time job and Etsy becoming more focused on small full-time businesses, I found this platform no longer suited me.
I still make create, but not currently selling right now. I’m selling my old designs and some extra items on Depop under @strikingkittens.

2 out of 5 starsGreat design and It’s really cute but the first time I put it on and zipped it up the zipper broke. Also the top part is extremely loose. I made sure to check the measurements before I bought but it just doesn’t fit right unfortunately.

I'm so sorry to hear these overalls didn't work out. I tried contacting Alex to offer alternatives to reach the best outcome for her, but unfortunately she never replied to me. For all my lovely future customers, please know that I am always happy to assist if there is ever an issue with your purchase from Striking Kittens. xoxo

5 out of 5 starsThese bib overall shorts are simply amazing! Both pairs were inspired by styles from the 1960's, and both were customized to my measurements. I'm impressed by the superb craftsmanship and the attention to detail, and I'm so looking forward to wearing these colorful playsuits, one made of satin and the other of crepe de chine. Five stars!!

Frequently asked questions
Can you make something from a picture I send?
Sorry, but I will not copy another designers work. The final product will never be exactly the same as the image due to availability of fabrics and differing machines and techniques. If you like one of my original designs, I'm happy to make small adjustments for an additional charge (see Custom and personalised orders).
Care instructions
My garments are machine washable, however, please use a gentle cycle to do so. For those with decorations such as rhinestones, please use a wash-bag. Remember to put similar colours together and never wash light colours with dark, especially reds, which are prone to run and stain your wash. Keep items away from abrasive surfaces such as velcro, chains and spikes.
Custom and personalised orders
Please send a message through Conversations if you are interested in a custom order. Custom orders include changes to one of my original patterns, such as custom measurements or additions not on the original design. Please remember, that I do not copy other designer's work, but I am happy to work with you on my original designs. Please note custom orders attract additional charges which vary with each request.
Why do you only have limited sizes/fabrics?
As my store is just me and is additional to my regular daytime job, I often buy fabric from commercial stores, online or thrift stores. This means that fabric is often very limited supply. So I often just make what I can make from what I have. If you love a design and are happy with an alternate fabric choice, you can discuss a custom order with me through Conversations. Please note custom orders attract additional charges which vary which each request.
What goes into making one of your garments?
It takes a lot! I free-hand sketch my designs and use flat pattern-making techniques to create the pattern. Flat pattern-making involves using standard pattern 'blocks' to manually (no computers) create the patterns on large pieces of paper. I will then test the pattern by making a 'toile' or test garment to check for fitting issues. I might make 2 or 3 toiles before the pattern is just right. Finally, I cut out my pattern onto the final fabric, and sew that sucker up! I use a straight sewing machine and an overlocking serger. Any decorative items such as buttons, patches or trims are often sewn on by hand. It's a long process which I do all by myself.
