One Thing Leads to Another...
My name is Helena, and I am a crafter, jewellery maker and business woman. I moved from Sweden to the UK in 2002 and ended up married to an Englishman. Now we're living and working with our daughter and two very patient cats in the beautiful Devon countryside.
I used to own a little newsagent's, and to make the downtime go faster I began making little beaded earrings and displayed them on a small cork notice board in the shop. To my surprise, people wanted to buy them! Eventually this lead to my own fashion accessories shop back in the 90's.
After a long career in retail management, I've now been running my own handmade business online since 2010. Making fashion jewellery - and of course doing all the bookkeeping, organisation, photography, stocktaking, posting, packaging, picture editing and everything else that comes with it.
Over the years there have been so many occasions where I've needed something I just couldn't find - stocktake sheets, inspirational prints for the office, simple lists, planners where the weekend has the same room on the page as the weekdays, as I never stop working, photo editing presets...
For a while, i was actually paying $49 per month (I know!! What was I thinking??) for some stock management software that STILL didn't do what I needed it to do. So eventually I gave up, cancelled the subscription and made my own Excel sheet with the simplicity and formulas that I wanted. Nothing more, nothing less.
