I started in 2009 on the floor of my best friends house, making Christmas presents for my Mom, and all of my Aunts, Sisters, Grandmothers, Cousins. Then I started selling to coworkers, on street corner bazaars, and at craft fairs. Somehow, someone decided my stuff was cool. I did a home jewelry show, a few trunk shows at local boutiques, and BAM. Myrrh Handmade Jewelry was born. After years the jewelry has changed, and I have changed. Things evolve, and sometimes you have to become something new to be what you always were. Sum+Substance reflects my desire to keep the jewelry strong, but only by adding to the essence of the wearer--not by taking over. I want my jewelry to mean something to the people who wear it, who give it, who receive it. It has always been about simple but substantial construction, using brass and other hard metals along with irregular semi precious gemstones. My desire is to make something simple that can be worn every day. Jewelry doesn't have to be complicated.
