Welcome to Summersweet Home
Hi, I’m Rachel—welcome to Summersweet Home!
My love of old houses and beautiful, storied objects began early. I grew up spending weekends visiting antique shops, estate sales, and auctions with my parents, who filled our home with pieces they genuinely loved. Now, as a homeowner myself, I find myself following in their footsteps—creating a home that feels collected over time through vintage, antique, refreshed, and thoughtfully made pieces.
During my sourcing trips around the Kansas City area, I often come across more beautiful things than I could ever use in my own home. It is hard to leave behind a special piece when I know someone else may have the perfect place for it, and that instinct is what first inspired this shop.
The shop was originally called The Holly House, named after one of our former homes—a 1945 Colonial on Holly Lane with a huge holly tree in the front yard. We always called it “The Holly House,” and the name became a meaningful part of the shop’s earliest years.
As the business has grown, it has expanded beyond that one home and beyond vintage alone. Summersweet Home better reflects what the shop is becoming: a collection of beautiful things that are found, refreshed, and made for warm, character-filled homes.
My personal style leans toward English country and Southern traditional interiors, with a layered, elegant, slightly nostalgic feeling—something I affectionately describe as “Southern English Granny.” You will find that influence throughout the shop in the pieces I choose, from classic tableware and textiles to artwork, lighting, and one-of-a-kind decorative finds.
Thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to reach out with any questions—I’m always happy to help.
