Made from cotton Kantha art has highly evolved in these years into different patterns like
patchwork and embroidery designs.
sunshinetextilestore is a symbol of history, culture, family and strength. Here you will find kantha art in
form of quilts, bed sheets and cushion covers. All our products are made of pure white cotton
which are dyed and block printed later with natural colours.
The story of ours started three year back when I started taking interest in my relatives venture of
kantha work. It interested me and inspired me to restore such art form of ancient India.

In India, Kantha is a century-old embroidery technique that continues to create an impact with
its beautifully constructed motifs using simple running stitches. When you talk about quilts and
blankets in India, Kantha is the first thing that strikes a mind. Beautiful patchworks and elegant
Kantha stitches always accompany the art of quilting. To contribute to our culture and carry
forward its legacy, I started "sunshinetextilestore in 2019 sunshinetextile storev have collection of
elegantly designed quilts, blankets, and bedspreads to make your winters warm, comfortable,
and cozy. My designs are inspired by floral, abstract, geometric, and ikat patterns.
Once the designs are ready, they are block-printed or screen-printed on cotton fabric sourced
from a known vendor. After the printing is completed, I along with a few of my artisan friends
(who come from an underprivileged background) work on the Kantha embroidery. Sometimes, I
even use fabric and create patchwork over the printed fabrics. I
aim to create quilts that are not only cozy but also are appealing to the eye. Hence, you will find
my designs to be new, unique, and sometimes non-repetitive.
Quilting has always been my hobby. I used to join the elder women of the house
to sew blankets and quilts. Kantha is our traditional embroidery that we follow since ages.
I
used to get my creative brain working and try to come up with new designs. My family
appreciated my creativity and interest to learn new things.
Jaipur’s block- and Hand screen-printing techniques intrigued me. My Brother helped me to know more
about it. With a desire to start my own business, I began experimenting with the designs. My
family supported me with the decision, and my Brother helped me to open a shop on Etsy.
