I am a full-time librarian. I've been making jewelry for over fifteen years. I have notes written in my high school yearbooks from teachers who wanted me to "leave the beads at home." I wish I could say I've been beading nonstop for all that time. I struggle with depression and it took a long time for me to want to go back to crafting. Opening this shop with Amanda was as much a healing journey for me as a business venture.
(Not so sucker anyone in with a sob story...just sayin'. XD)
I make the kind of jewelry I want to wear: one-size-fits-all bracelets and necklaces with just the right amount of shimmer and shine. I want to know the materials that go into my jewelry, and I make sure to list them because I'm sure you want to know too.
I collect pinbacks and magnets with cool art and funny sayings. I started making them for the same reason I started making jewelry: I wanted items to show off my offbeat sense of humor. I also source designs and images from other talented artists and Etsyians. I hope you like my accessories as much as I do.
I strive to make sure my jewelry findings and metals are lead- and nickel-free, and I source my materials to the best of my ability. No mystery metals or stones here! My button parts are made in the USA and the metal parts are rust-resistant, if not rustproof. (Though I don't recommend getting them wet. No paper-based button will survive a dip in the pool. And if you're stuck outside in a rainstorm, make sure to wipe your pinbacks dry as soon as you can to make them last longer.)
I get my best ideas from people saying "I wish they made X, but without so much Y in it." If you find yourself saying that about your accessories, give me a holler and let me fix it for you.
