About the Artist
Serene settings, gentle harmonies, soft and inviting rooms, lush floral gardens, and quiet seas that evoke tranquility are the hallmarks of my art. Each painting reflects my distinctive style, offering love, peace, and a sense of belonging. Viewers often feel uplifted both visually and emotionally, as if I have welcomed them into my private spaces and invited them to linger.
There are stories in most of my paintings, often connected to what is happening in my own inner world. I add elements that complete the memory of a dream or moment. People often tell me my work feels familiar, and I believe that is because the emotions within the art are universal. We all share so many of the same feelings.
I live in Southern California, surrounded by rooms and gardens that echo the images I paint. My daughter Olivia, granddaughter Rose, my cat Leo, along with my furniture, collectibles, and bouquets of flowers from my year-round gardens often find their way into my artwork.
Over the years, my passion for painting has grown to include teaching and mentoring. My students range from children to seniors, beginners to seasoned artists. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing their confidence grow as their creativity blossoms. It is deeply satisfying to witness their remarkable paintings take shape.
Alongside being an artist, I am also a businesswoman who has built creative ventures with integrity and dedication to my collectors. Today, through Susan Rios Designs, I offer a full line of canvas prints, embellished one-of-a-kind prints, cards, mini prints, jewelry, and of course my original paintings.
