Lorsque je peins, ma toile devient une machine à remonter le temps. En puisant dans l'intimité de mes souvenirs et de mon foyer à l'aide de mon pinceau, je me transporte dans un lieu qui n'existe plus que dans mon esprit. Par des couches de peinture à l'huile aux douces nuances de terre et de pierres précieuses, je transmets la nostalgie d'un lieu où l'on aspire à revenir, ou même le désir d'un endroit jamais visité. À travers mon travail au pinceau, j'explore ces espaces dynamiques et souvent malléables, en dialogue intime avec les notions de maternité, de foyer et de temps : la peinture épaisse et texturée affirme la dignité de ces réflexions, tandis que les glacis délicats en révèlent la fragilité. En explorant ces thèmes à travers la peinture, je cherche à ralentir le rythme et à saisir des instants fugaces : marques d'affection, souvenirs familiers, routines rassurantes.

Je trouve la beauté dans la tension entre le passage inexorable du temps, les rythmes nécessaires et nourriciers du travail et leur dialogue avec les espaces de la vie domestique où l'on trouve le repos. Bien que mon expression artistique soit profondément personnelle, elle puise dans cette nostalgie qui sommeille en chacun de nous : l'espace du foyer, à la fois havre de paix et témoignage en constante évolution de la famille et de soi. Mes œuvres utilisent des portraits d'une grande intimité et des vignettes empreintes de nostalgie, représentant des objets et des aliments familiers, ainsi que des motifs décoratifs anciens, pour étendre le concept de foyer au-delà de ses murs. Dans mes peintures, rien n'est trop insignifiant pour être considéré comme un héritage de mémoire, qu'il s'agisse d'un bol de céréales à moitié vide ou d'un violon transmis de génération en génération, par-delà les frontières.

When I paint, my canvas becomes a time machine. By using my brush to tap into the intimate spaces of memory and home, I am able to step back into a place that now only exists in the mind. With layers of oil paint in soft color tones of earth and jewel, I convey a nostalgia for a place that we want to return to, or even a longing for somewhere we have never been. Through my brushwork, I explore these dynamic, and often elastic spaces, which are in intimate conversation with the concepts of motherhood, home and time: thick and textural paint assert the dignity of these reflections, while delicate glazes reveal their fragility. By navigating these themes through paint, I seek to slow down and hold otherwise fleeting moments: expressions of care, familiar keepsakes, comforting routines.

I find beauty in the tension between the constant, forward-march of time, necessary and nurturing rhythms of work and how they converse with the areas of domestic life where we can find rest. Although my artistic expression is deeply personal, it taps into a room of longing in the heart which we all possess: the space of home as both a quiet place of shelter and an ever-evolving archive of family and self. My artwork uses emotionally intimate portraiture and nostalgic vignettes of familiar household items and foods, as well as vintage household surface design patterns, to stretch the concept of home beyond the boundaries of its physical walls. In my paintings, nothing is considered too insignificant to be catalogued as an heirloom of the mind, from a half-finished bowl of cereal, to a violin passed down through generations and across immigration borders.
