Soy Amelia Kanan, la artista detrás de Syfte Studio: pintora abstracta y fotógrafa radicada en Michigan (recientemente me mudé de Los Ángeles). De día, trabajo como estratega de marketing y narradora nominada al Emmy, con más de 15 años de experiencia en producción de video, publicidad, periodismo y dirección de marca. Mi formación en fotoperiodismo me enseñó a captar el momento antes de que se convierta en una historia; ese mismo instinto ahora da forma tanto a mis pinturas como a mis fotografías.
Mis pinturas son complejas, intuitivas y están realizadas en acrílico, acuarela y técnicas mixtas; composiciones que parten de una estructura y luego se dejan fluir, con el color y el gesto como protagonistas. Mi fotografía se centra en la naturaleza, en escenas tranquilas y observacionales: la costa, los campos de cultivo y las texturas coloridas que evocan la sensación del exterior en el interior.
Syfte significa "objetivo, propósito, dirección" en sueco. Es el nombre del lugar donde convergen mi formación estratégica y mi instinto creativo. Cada pieza es intencional, incluso cuando el resultado parece espontáneo o improvisado.

I'm Amelia Kanan, the artist behind Syfte Studio — an abstract painter and photographer based in Michigan (recently moved from Los Angeles). By day, I work as a marketing strategist and Emmy-nominated storyteller with over 15 years of experience in video production, advertising, journalism, and brand direction. My background in photojournalism trained me to notice the moment before it resolves into a story; that same instinct now shapes both my paintings and my photography.
My paintings are layered, intuitive, and built in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media — compositions that start with structure and are then allowed to move, with color and gesture taking the lead. My photography focuses on nature, quiet, observational scenes: shoreline, farmland, and the colorful textures that bring the feeling of outdoors, inside.
Syfte means "aim, purpose, direction" in Swedish. It's the name for the place where my strategic training and my creative instinct meet. Every piece is intentional, even when the result looks loose or unplanned.
