SZKLO means glass in Polish!

My name is Lauren & I grew up in San Diego. I'm married, have 3 kiddos & we currently live in Las Vegas. The question I get asked the most is how did I get started in the art of stained glass. My first job out of high school was working for a glass company. They built basic stained glass windows for builders & my job was cutting glass. I then moved with friends to Utah for school & looked for another job in the glass field because hey, that's what I knew ;) I finally landed a job at Glass Images & Creations where I started out insulating/glazing windows, then worked my way into building stained glass windows full time. I met my husband there (his uncle owns the shop) & after 4 years of working, I moved. Fast forward 6 years (marriage & 2 kids), I was pregnant with our third & I had a major itch to start creating again. I tried thinking of everything or anything I could start learning to make. It finally hit me one day, why not use a skill I already know so well. The struggle was finding a way to make stained glass that was obtainable (not everyone needs a window). After some brainstorming, I created small glass hangings & the response was positive!

As far as my company name, my father's lineage is Polish & I became very interested in my family history. When I heard the Polish word for glass, I knew it was the one. That's how Szklo Glass was born! It's crazy that 18 years ago, cutting a piece of glass has led me to this. I love it!
