They were Shetland sheep and I named them Sophia, Rose, Dorothy and Blanche. They were there to serve as living lawnmowers. I was just their shepherd - I had no idea they were going to lead me down a path of discovery.

Their soft wool begged to be worked with, to be made into something beautiful. I can trace my inherent need to make things back through generations of ancestors to the beginning of this country. Weavers, shoemakers and seamstresses adorn most of my family tree. In fact, in the early 1800s, my fifth-great grandmother raised her seven children alone by raising sheep, taking in weaving, and producing home goods for friends and neighbors. Following in her footsteps, I have taken up the textile trade with a passion.

As a nod to the independent spirit of those before me, I only source materials that are manufactured here in the United States and use time-honored techniques, which allow me to enjoy the tactile sensation of hand work. Quality construction and classic design are what you will find in my collection.
