Creating is *sometimes* cheaper than therapy!
I've been sewing since I was about 8 and have always loved being able to make something from just some raw supplies. My grandmother bought me a latch hook pillow kit, and I spent the entire day sitting in a chair and working on it. She realized it was the longest she'd ever seen me sit and concentrate on something so she started teaching me the basics of sewing and it's been a love affair that has gone on ever since!
I started making bags about 12 years ago and I really enjoy picking out fun prints and themes to create something fun and useful. Life's too short to have a boring, plain mass produced bag, so I started creating the things that I wish I could find for myself. As an Army wife, I've had to give up on some of my more conventional career paths since we moved so often and with the price of childcare, it was just easier to be a stay-at-home mom and focus on some of the more portable careers! So I started making more things for friends and family, as well as working as a photographer for a time. Since my husband has retired and we've settled in one place, I have a dedicated studio and can focus on creating!!
The Bad Kitty Studio name came from our kitties (currently 3 and one shih-tzu who thinks she's a cat) that always like to sleep in the window or under my tables and supervise all work in the studio. (They do stay away from the fabric...mostly)
