I began my Etsy journey whilst off on maternity leave with my first son. Like many parents out there, I began to think about the future with lots of thinking time in between nappy changes, feeding etc. I wanted to stay in my job in a SEN school, which I love but wanted to work part time, rather than full time once my maternity leave came to an end. To make up financial losses I began to sell on Etsy.
Initially I made just 25mm badges. I purchased a professional badge maker, components and a high quality printer and asked my husband, who is a Graphic designer to show me how to use software to create images for my badges. My husband was super patient with me throughout this painful process! Things were picking up and I was getting requests for larger badges, so I purchased a larger badge maker, which also allowed me to make fridge magnets too. I didn't have a huge amount of time once my second son came along and my Etsy shop got a little stale. Still a few sales here and there, but it was more just in the background. During the pandemic though, I found myself with more time at home and found my niche, making needle minders and more recently scissor fobs and keyrings. I have developed a more creative side to me and thoroughly enjoy creating new pieces and this is the direction I would like to go with my Etsy store in the future. I have many return customers and I'm so excited to reach almost 1000 5 star reviews.
