About The Balm Box
The Balm Box was created to help people give a truly meaningful gift to someone going through cancer.
When someone you love is facing surgery, treatment, or recovery, it’s hard to know what to send. Flowers fade. Candles and blankets are kind, but often not what’s needed most. The Balm Box was founded to make it easier to give something that actually helps.
Founded by Liz Benditt, a 6-time cancer survivor, The Balm Box was born from personal experience. During treatment, Liz received many well-intended gifts that were thoughtful but not useful. What she needed were practical, non-prescription comfort tools to ease treatment side effects — and a way for loved ones to support her in a meaningful, tangible way.
Every Balm Box is thoughtfully curated using insights from more than 500 cancer patients and caregivers. They consistently told us that functional items — like soothing lotions and comfort tools — were far more helpful than typical gifts. That feedback guides everything we include, so you can feel confident that what you’re sending has real purpose.
Each box is ready to gift and designed to provide genuine relief, a sense of care, and a reminder that the recipient is not alone. There’s no filler, no guesswork, and no awkward “will they actually use this?” moment — just thoughtful items chosen with intention.
The Balm Box exists to help you show up for someone you love, even when you don’t know what to say. Whether you’re supporting a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor, this is a way to say, “I’m thinking of you, and I want to help.”
Founded in Fall 2020, The Balm Box continues to be led by lived experience, empathy, and hope. If you’re sending a gift during an incredibly difficult chapter, we’re honored to help you care for someone who matters to you.
