Practical resources, informed by real therapeutic work.
Hi, I’m Ellie.
I’m a qualified psychotherapist and the person behind The Considered Practice.
I created this shop because I know how much time goes into good client work outside the session itself. Finding the right questions, creating a useful exercise, putting together something for a client to take away, or simply finding a clear way to explain a difficult idea can take far longer than you expect.
Much of what you’ll find here has grown out of my own work with clients.
Over the years I’ve created frameworks, prompts, worksheets and practical tools to help give sessions structure, open up conversations and give clients something useful to work with between sessions. The Considered Practice is a way of making that work available to other therapists, counsellors, coaches and helping professionals.
I want these resources to support your professional judgement, not replace it. You know your clients. My aim is to give you a well-considered starting point that you can use, adapt and bring into your own way of working.
There is also another part of The Considered Practice that matters to me.
I have a slightly utopian wish to make some of the thinking and tools that support therapeutic change more widely available and affordable. Therapy isn't accessible to everyone, and useful psychological resources don't necessarily have to stay within the therapy room.
For that reason, some of the resources here are designed to be used directly by individuals too, particularly around ADHD and neurodivergence. Many will naturally sit somewhere in between: something a person can buy and use independently may equally be useful for a therapist or coach to recommend, share or work through with a client.
A little about me
I’m a fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I run a busy private practice and work extensively with ADHD and neurodivergence. That experience inevitably shapes the way I create resources.
I care about psychological depth, but I also care about whether something is actually usable. A beautifully explained concept isn't much help if the person looking at it is overwhelmed by the page or has no idea what to do with it.
I try to create resources that are clear without being simplistic, compassionate without avoiding difficult things, and structured without assuming that everybody thinks or works in the same way.
I also don't believe that good therapeutic work comes from following a script. The resources here aren't intended to tell you how to be a therapist or coach. They're there to give you ideas, structure and practical material that you can use alongside your own training, experience and understanding of the person in front of you.
Whether you're looking for a complete framework, something to use in your next session, a resource to give to a client, or a practical tool for yourself, I hope you find something here that makes your work — or life — a little easier.
Practical resources, informed by real therapeutic work.
