Make something you'll love to wear
Greetings from country Australia :)
I'm Liz Haywood, a former fashion industry patternmaker. My manufacturing career ended when I moved to the country to raise a family, but I still really loved making patterns and working with fabric.
I now make sewing patterns that are zero waste or very low waste. The pieces fit together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, with no scraps or waste. In addition, they're very economical on fabric; when we waste nothing, we get the full use of what we do have.
Many people say that using a zero waste sewing pattern is a very satisfying experience.
Inspiration for design comes from thinking about the kinds of clothes people really want to wear, and pushing the boundaries of zero waste patterncutting. It also comes from the cloth itself - seeing what the fabric is capable of doing.
The actual design process is intertwined with making the pattern, as patternmaking is the design tool.
I aim to make patterns which are versatile, come in a wide range of sizes, and feature interesting construction or details.
My hope is that you'll make something you'll love to wear that will be in your wardrobe for a long time.
Cheers! Liz
