About The Dandy Patch
Sewing is in my blood. My grandmothers have done it for generations, Mom is a quilting fanatic, and now I, too, have developed my own obsession for puzzling fabric pieces into snuggly artwork. For me, there's an addictive thrill in choosing designer fabrics and discovering new ways to put a modern twist on this old-timey hobby. The planning phase geometry, angles, measurements and proportions make for a challenging brain exercise. Then, with the right background music or movie, the cutting, piecing, pressing, setting, and binding become methodical meditation.
I have a son in high school, three kitties, a dear manchild of a husband, and a full-time day job, so my sewing takes place mostly in the evenings and on weekends in my smoke-free home. I draw up my own patterns for almost every quilt that I make, so if you can dream it, I can sew it. All my quilt tops are machine quilted by my friend, David Hurd (quiltingbydavid.com). I do not sew for profit - I sew for the love of making quilts!
