Traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary twist
We are Max and Philippe, two friends from the Delft area in the Netherlands. In 2023, we came up with the idea for the Dutch Tile Project in one of our favourite cafés in Amsterdam: to put a modern twist to the beloved tradition of Dutch Delftware. Each of our tiles tells a unique story. Whether it's a memory, a passion or an inside joke, our mission is to delight people with unique art that touches the heart and puts a smile on people’s faces.
Each tile is made-to-order in our home town of Amsterdam. Our goal is to avoid as much waste as possible, so the making of a tile only starts once an order is placed. This means our production times are slightly longer than you might be used to - around 3-5 working days - but also that each tile is specifically made for you.
Our story began in Amsterdam. We brought the first tiles around by bike ourselves. It doesn't get much more Dutch than that, does it? Now, our tiles can be found all over the world. From India to New Zealand and from Singapore to Brazil. From every country we receive heartfelt and sometimes even touching responses. And that's exactly what this project is all about: sharing stories that put a smile on people’s face. Life is serious enough as it is.
