An old interest rekindled...
Growing up, I was always surrounded by creative people. One of my parents was a writer, crafter, and cook, while the other was a talented musician. Both were storytellers, and I remember hearing countless bedtime stories of places and creatures that could only be visited by the imagination. I would spend many hours drawing pictures, painting, playing piano, and daydreaming about faraway places. I was always in my own little world, and as I grew older and family circumstances took a turn for the worse, I felt that my world was the only place I could escape to for a while. This was around the time I started to take an interest in creating jewelry.
Some friends of the family who were both jewelry makers moved into town. They converted one of their bedrooms into a small studio, and I remember spending much time looking at all their creations and supplies. It sparked something in me, and I decided that I would give jewelry making a go as well.
Once I started thinking seriously about making jewelry again, the ideas flowed.
I tend to draw inspiration from animals and nature, from memories and stories I read long ago. It has really been amazing for our family. Not only do I enjoy making each piece, but I feel that I'm sharing a small bit of happiness and whimsy with everyone who wears them. Knowing that I am able to help my little family financially while bringing a bit of joy to people's lives is extremely satisfying, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Making jewelry has made my life more of an expressive, colorful journey, and I'm loving every second of it.
