My name is Dorrie Fox, and I’m so grateful you’re here.
If there’s one thing I hope you’ll discover while visiting my shop, it’s that this isn’t simply a place to buy vintage treasures or handcrafted pieces. It’s a place built on stories, second chances, and the belief that beautiful things should never be forgotten.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to old things.
Maybe it’s the worn handle on an antique kitchen utensil that reminds me of countless family dinners. Maybe it’s a weathered crock that once sat beside someone’s wood stove. Maybe it’s a delicate piece of Depression glass that survived generations before finding its way here. Whatever it is, I’ve never looked at vintage items as “used.”
I’ve always seen them as waiting.
Waiting for someone else to discover their beauty.
Waiting for another family.
Waiting for another chapter.
That belief eventually became The Fox Key Cottage.
There is another reason this journey has become so meaningful to me.
Over the years, life has taught me that second chances are among our greatest blessings. I’ve come to believe that what others may overlook often holds extraordinary beauty and purpose. Sometimes it’s an old treasure tucked away on a forgotten shelf. Sometimes it’s a piece of wood waiting to become something new. Sometimes it’s simply an opportunity to begin again.
That belief has quietly shaped the way I live. I find joy in preserving history, creating with my hands, caring for the things entrusted to me, and discovering beauty where others might only see age or imperfection. Every vintage piece I rescue, every ornament I handcraft, and every repurposed creation that leaves my worktable is a reflection of that philosophy.
The Fox Key Cottage isn’t just the name of my shop. It’s a reminder that every story still has another chapter waiting to be written—and that even the smallest treasures can bring comfort, memories, and joy into someone’s home.
Over the years, my love for history naturally grew into a passion for creating. Today, my shop is a blend of carefully curated vintage finds and handcrafted artisan pieces. Whether I’m rescuing a forgotten treasure, designing an ornament that may become part of someone’s Christmas tradition, or transforming reclaimed materials into something entirely new, every piece is created or chosen with the same purpose—to preserve beauty, celebrate craftsmanship, and create meaningful keepsakes.
I don’t believe homes are filled overnight.
The most welcoming homes tell stories.
They hold furniture handed down through generations, dishes used during family holidays, handmade decorations that return every season, and little treasures collected over a lifetime. Those are the pieces that give a house its soul.
That’s exactly what I hope you’ll find here.
Each vintage item has already lived a remarkable life before arriving at The Fox Key Cottage. Every scratch, gentle patina, and sign of age is part of its history. My role is simply to preserve it, appreciate it, and introduce it to someone who will continue its story.
My handmade creations come from that very same philosophy. They are designed slowly, thoughtfully, and with the hope that one day they will become part of your family’s traditions and memories.
Sustainability has also become an important part of this journey. Choosing vintage means preserving history while giving beautiful pieces a new purpose instead of allowing them to be forgotten. I believe there is something incredibly meaningful about honoring the craftsmanship of the past while creating heirlooms for the future.
One of the questions I’m asked most often is why every order includes a miniature skeleton key.
The answer is simple.
To me, a key has always represented possibility.
It unlocks doors.
It opens new chapters.
It reminds us that every ending can become a beginning.
