Who is The Frog in the Craft?
The Frog in the Craft is a small business "one-woman band" created and run by me, Sandrine. A French ex-pat in the UK, I am based in Nottinghamshire. I am a wife, a mum and step-mum and I look after a small menagerie composed of both furry and feathered pets. My grandad is at the source of my great interest for the handmade (or the "made by hand" as I prefer to call it), the heritage crafts and the (sadly disappearing) old skilled jobs. I made my first wooden sewing box with him when I was about 10 - and I still use it!
My motto (one of them anyway) is “Live a little, Craft a lot”, especially as crafting or making things by hand has always been in my blood, but I also discovered a few years back that it helps with chronic pain management. This is how my shop started in November 2018 at a small market. I was fast becoming a prolific maker and needed to sell my makes. I started selling supplies and hosting workshops shortly after.
What can you expect from The Frog in the Craft?
My mission is to empower mindful creativity and wellness through exceptional customer service, sustainable and eco-friendly practices and a curated selection of high-quality, trusted hand-sewing supplies at competitive prices.
I deliver exceptional customer service, fostering a positive and supportive community. Every message is answered with a smile, (hopefully contagious!) and I am always happy to help you on your creative journey. I champion the therapeutic benefits of hand-sewing for chronic pain management and mental health wellness. I prioritize eco-friendly packaging, minimizing waste, and promote conscious crafting to nurture the environment. Lastly, I'm passionate about giving back to my community. I support local wildlife groups, participate in crafting socials, and actively volunteer at community events whenever I can.
What does this mean for you?
Needleworkers can find high-quality hand sewing notions from threads to needles, fabric, buttons, darning wool and tools, crafting and sewing kits, and much more - some of which make for a thoughtful gift. Some of the buttons I supply are handmade by me. I also make needlebooks and pincushions mostly. The materials I use for my makes are often recycled or upcycled items, like ties or fabric from old clothes, leftovers from projects or scraps.
What do I mean by needleworkers? Well if you are a hand sewer, an embroiderer, slow stitcher, cross-stitcher, quilter, hardanger or blackwork enthusiast, dressmaker, enjoy tatting or even knitting and crochet then you are (in my book) a needleworker! The Frog in the Craft Etsy shop is definitely for you! Go on and have a browse now ;-)
And don't forget that if you have any questions, I am only one Etsy message away!
