I have been interested in the art of blacksmithing since I was a child. We used to take family trips to the local living museum in Western NY and would find myself mesmerized at the blacksmith shop.

Over the next 30+ years I have played around with the blacksmithing trade and read every book I could on the topic as well as any videos available. It wasn’t until in the recent past that I was introduced to the local Blacksmith Guild and was able to acquire a forge, anvil, and some basic tools for my passion to turn into reality.

My goal is to actively pursue my hobby as a blacksmith to increase my talent level, equipment, and sales and to ultimately branch off in my own stand alone smithy in a full time position. Forging the future in the art of Blacksmithing that we almost lost during the 1970s.

Where The Goats Forge got its name:
During the US Navy sailing days, the ships had goats on them for dairy products and then as technology advanced and refrigerators appeared on ships the Goats space or room was taken over by the Chiefs and called the Chiefs Mess or the Goat Locker. The Goats Forge took its name as two Senior Chiefs forged on a weekly basis, and were talking about what to name the forge and so it be said, The Goats Forge stuck from that night on.
