Frequently asked questions

Why can't you ship to some states?

Western states and others who require phyto-certificates place restrictions on what plants can come in and out of their states. For us to ship there, we have to go through special inspections, pay fees, and maintain a specific license. Otherwise, we are breaking the law. Unfortunately, as a small nursery, this isn't worth the cost and trouble for us.

We are sorry for the inconvenience but we do not ship to: Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho). I can also only ship to Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi during bare root season (late fall through early spring) due to Japanese Beetle regulations.

How do you ship?

I like to ship in the most cost-saving, quick, and safe way possible. At this time, we use UPS (either Ground or 2nd Day Air depending on your location). Unfortunately, we have seen too many long delays, badly damaged boxes, missing packages, and other issues with USPS to trust them with your new plant baby.

What is the bare root plant shipping process?

From late fall to very early spring, deciduous (non-evergreen) plants are dormant (no leaves). During this time, your plants will be shipped bare-root which means little to no soil. This is the perfect time of year to buy for healthy plants!

We will carefully remove the pot and soil from your plant, soak the roots in water for an hour or two, and then wrap the roots in moist paper with a plastic wrap over that to keep moisture in for its travels to you.

Once you receive it, you can rehydrate the roots with water, and plant or re-pot as you normally would. Simple as pie :) This is a great way to buy plants because it cuts down on pests accidentally being sent with a plant in soil and gives them a fresh new start in their new home!
