Irish Girl Follows Her Passion
Well Hello! I’m Sarah and super excited to get my shop open and share some treasures with you.
I’m originally from Ireland and grew up going to flea markets with my Nana and Papa who would challenge me on the identification of Sterling Silver Maker’s Marks at an early age. I traveled Europe before ending up in the States. I learned so much from my Mom after she opened her own antique store in the early 70’s and great now for us to share time together “antiquing”.
After many years in corporate health care, real estate, and home staging it took COVID and a chance encounter to put me back on the path to my passion. I am not alone in this journey - my fiancé Mark and little Maltese dog Wrigley put up with the endless road trips and non-stop organizing and posting. My Mom is in her 80's and she's also along for the ride - she marvels at the fact people are still buying antiques!
I just love seeking out beautiful examples of craftsmanship in fine china, silver, and other collectibles - and sharing them with the world. Perhaps rescuing some pieces from obscurity. I buy what appeals to my aesthetic. I love the research and learning the history of various pieces and their makers. There’s nothing like holding a hand painted or hand crafted item, especially an antique one, and thinking about who might have made it and how.
The Hidden Goat Shop is my way of resurrecting the past, preserving creative history, and stimulating my own creativity - I hope you’ll join me on my adventure.
