Frequently asked questions

How long does a custom order take to make?

Custom orders range from 2 to 6 weeks fabrication time. All custom orders include details re: the order specifications, including size/dimensions, materials to be used, color & pattern description, deadline by which the customer stated they needed the item by, and estimated fabrication time. The Illustrated Egg encourages the buyer to review the custom order Item Description specifics carefully before committing to the purchase. Fabrication begins after payment is received, and every effort is made to complete it in advance of the estimated timeframe. The custom order listing will not be created by The Illustrated unless The Illustrated Egg is reasonably certain the item can be made in the timeframe the customer requests.

How will I know my item has shipped?

The Illustrated Egg ships via USPS Priority Mail, or First Class Mail (dependent on the weight of the shipment), and First Class International Mail. Notification is sent to the customer when the item has shipped (within 1-3 days of purchase or when fabrication is completed on a custom-ordered item), including the USPS tracking system number or international customs number.

How do I know my custom order is being made?

The Illustrated Egg wants customers to feel comfortable with their purchase and see their item as it is being fabricated. Items are photographed at set stages in time during fabrication and photos are Convo'd to the customer to show status updates with its progress. Customers may also follow The Illustrated Egg on social media where process photos and videos of items being made in the shop are posted on a regular basis.

What if my item arrives damaged?

We do everything we can to ship items with adequate packing and airspace. If any item should arrive damaged, please contact The Illustrated Egg via Convo immediately and if possible attach a photograph of the damage. The Illustrated Egg requests return of the damaged item for a refund, so we can assess what may have caused the damage and prevent it from happening again.

Who makes the items for sale in The Illustrated Egg's shop?

Cydette Marshall is the owner and artist at The Illustrated Egg. She uses the pronoun "we" in writing about The Illustrated Egg, but the store is run by her and she is the sole maker in the shop. Please feel free to address concerns and questions to her. She is happy to answer any queries and receive feedback about process, fabrication, or service.
