5 out of 5 starsI cannot say enough amazing things about this shop! From start to finish, the customer service was truly above and beyond. The seller was incredibly responsive, kind, and attentive to every detail. They answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly which made me feel confident in my purchase. I’m new to the world of SFX, and having such a positive and supportive interaction meant so much to me. They are truly knowledgeable and genuinely encouraging, which made the whole experience exciting instead of intimidating. The product itself exceeded my expectations, and you can tell a lot of care goes into their work. I wholeheartedly recommend this shop to anyone!

5 out of 5 starsFar from a reject in my opion these are still great quality

I do usually err on the side of caution with the rejects, they're usually never "bad" quality, just not as good as I'd like for retail - but usually most people are happy with them. Glad to hear you're happy with them.

5 out of 5 starsI purchased a reject nose because I was only using it for Halloween between trick-or-treating hours (6pm-8pm), so to me I didn't need anything perfect or super high quality, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the nose and saw no noticeable defects. Unfortunately, I didn't end up using it because the weather was bad and we didn't get to set up our big Batman Returns display that we had planned, so I will save it for next year.

"In stock only" orders
Going forward, in order to reduce waste costs, all smaller prosthetics, mostly the ones under $50 will only be available when I already have them made. They're no longer listed as "Made to order".
If there's a piece you're in dire need of and it's listed as sold out, get in touch and I'll see what I can do. In most cases these will be considered a rush order and an additional charge will be added to these orders, otherwise you'll have to wait until I have time to make a new copy of that design - it may only be a couple days to a week, or it could be over a month, it all depends on my production schedule.
Can I return a prosthetic if the package has been opened?
No. Treat prosthetics like you would underwear - once it's out of the bag, I have no way of knowing what you've done with it and there's no way I can resell it. Would you knowingly buy a prosthetic knowing someone else has "used" it even it the slightest degree?
It's unhygienic and a little gross. For this reason, if you've opened the bag and ask to return it for any reason - the answer is no. You've effectively ruined the item for resale and I won't accept a return or offer a refund under any circumstances.
If a prosthetic is returned, I can tell if the package has been opened or not, so don't waste your time or my time in trying return it.
Why don't you accept any returns?
I will in certain circumstances, but I don't want an open door policy on returns, I will gauge each scenario on it's own merits. There are some cases where it's perfectly warranted, and many, many others were it's not.
As mentioned in the above question, prosthetics are pretty much treated like underwear and under no circumstances would any store accept a return on an item like that. Prosthetics are glued to your face, it's a product that makes prolonged skin contact - I have no way of knowing what's been done to the piece or if it's even safe for another human to wear without contracting a disease (this is an extreme case that I've never encountered, but is a possibility even if it's an accident).
Do you custom paint or pre-paint prosthetics?
No. That's the whole point of prosthetics, they're a "blank canvas" for you to create on. If I were to do it, the chances of you having the same makeups or paints to blend it in is unlikely, and would result in a mess. It's also time consuming. Most all prosthetic shops do not offer to pre-paint for you.
Nor do they come in various colours, just the standard natural off white of foam latex.
Can foam latex prosthetics be reused?
No, but technically yes. It's a tricky answer because there's a lot to it.
You can reuse them all you want, but they'll probably look like crap, the edges will start to roll up, tear, fall apart, etc - but if you don't care about that, you can reuse them forever in this case.
If you want them to look perfect and pristine every time you reuse them - no. Foam latex pieces aren't really intended to be more than a one time use kind of thing. Some people claim they've reused them, but you'd have to personally check in with them about these claims and the overall quality of those reuses. Plus not all runs of foam latex are equal, some come out denser, resulting in tougher pieces, some some out softer making a more it more delicate.
Do you take commissions?
Yes. And the cost varies so much it's hard to give even a reasonable rough quote without knowing exactly what you're looking for.
Also, I only work with foam latex when it comes to prosthetics- not silicone, no gelatin and not latex. I have on rare occasion done a latex mask sort of piece, but they were closer to typical masks than prosthetics.
And while most people are aware, apparently some aren't, so I will say be aware that this is a long, somewhat complicated process. If you're in a rush, doesn't expect to be too thrilled with my response - you'll either be paying way more than usual or there just isn't a reasonably amount of time to complete the work.
How long does commission work take?
All depends on the complexity and size of the design, and how busy I am otherwise.
There is a massive amount of information in going over what's needed for a commission, so I'll refer you to my site: https://www.themonkeyrodeo.com/commissions
It's a lot of information to read through, but it makes the process 100x easier so I don't have to answer the same questions over and over and over again.
Can I get a discount if I order a lot of one design?
No. I'm not a factory where producing more is cheaper, it's in fact more expensive to produce large quantities of a single piece.
In most cases I have only one mould, or set of moulds, for each design, so that would force me to do several runs of foam (producing a lot of potential waste since each batch of foam is a set amount) or produce several new moulds (which is a waste of time and money since I don't need them otherwise, if it's even possible to produce more).
Can you rush ship an order?
Not really. Right now all shipping guarantees by the postal service have been suspended so if you need it fast or by a certain date that's less than 3 - 4 weeks away, it's probably not going to happen no matter how much money you want to throw at it.
Why do you close you shop mid October?
Simple answer, to avoid all the last minute impossible to fill orders. I constantly get anywhere from a dozen to several dozen last minute orders, from people who clearly never read the product description asking for impossible delivery times. These people also rarely responded to message and it's an absolute trainwreck.
Keep in mind yours might not be the only order I have to manage, in fact I'm swamped with Halloween order starting in June. To end the season with dozens of order cancellations and requests for special favors makes my year way too stressful, so to avoid all this, I just started shutting things down before these kinds of orders can even happen - and it's awesome.
