Il sentiero meno raveled
The Path Less Raveled
Tasche a filetto! Cuciture francesi! Cerniere raccolte a mano!
If I had a dollar for every time someone said to me, ‘I wish I had the time to sew/create/paint/etc.’ I would be at least 286 bucks richer. I hear this often, and truth is I need to create. As a creative person, I have to exercise my skills or I get cranky. My life without art is like a plant without sunshine or an 80’s band without the big hair. It just doesn’t work.
My mom began to teach me how to sew when I was 6 or 7. By high school I was brave enough to tackle an 1880’s ballgown with hoop skirt! It was very ambitious, and very fun. The more I sew, the more I want to learn. Welt pockets! French seams! Hand-picked zippers! I love to learn new techniques that can improve the quality of my work. When I had children, I began sewing for them. A lot. That was my creative outlet, because unlike painting or drawing which for me require laser beam-like focus, I could sit down and sew a seam if I had a few minutes. I also loved that I could make my children unique and beautiful things. If I dreamed it, I could sew it!
Now, I am happy to share my creations with a greater audience here on Etsy. All the items in my shop are created by me in my smoke- and pet-free studio. My favorite place to be is sitting in my studio working on a project, while my kids putter around with me, gluing popsicle sticks together or drawing a masterpiece. Thanks for stopping by The Path Less Raveled!
