This Privacy Policy explains how and when I collect, use, retain and share personal information when you purchase a digital product from The Patterned Peach, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com and its related services.

This Privacy Policy applies to my activities as an Etsy seller. It does not apply to Etsy or other third parties that I do not own or control. You can read Etsy’s Privacy Policy at https://www.etsy.com/legal/privacy/.

Information I collect

When you purchase a digital product or contact me through Etsy, Etsy may provide me with certain information, including:

your name or Etsy username;
your email address;
details of the digital product purchased;
transaction and payment-status information; and
any personal information you choose to provide when contacting me.

Etsy processes buyers’ payments and delivers digital files. I do not receive or store buyers’ full payment-card details.

Please do not send sensitive personal information through Etsy Messages or by email unless it is necessary to resolve a specific issue.

Why I need your information and how I use it

I collect and use personal information only where I have a lawful reason to do so. These reasons include:

Contract: to provide the digital products you purchase, respond to questions, help with downloading or accessing files, resolve order problems, process appropriate refunds, settle disputes, and provide customer support.
Legal obligations: to maintain records required for tax, accounting and other legal or regulatory purposes, and to respond to lawful requests from courts, regulators or public authorities.
Legitimate interests: to operate and improve The Patterned Peach, protect my work and legal rights, prevent fraud or misuse, maintain the security of my business, and comply with Etsy’s Seller Policy and Terms of Use, provided that these interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

I do not use information obtained through an Etsy purchase to send unsolicited marketing messages, and I do not maintain a separate customer mailing list.

Information sharing and disclosure

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share personal information only for limited business or legal purposes, including with:

Etsy: as necessary to sell and deliver digital products, communicate with buyers, provide customer support, process transactions, and comply with Etsy’s policies and terms.
Legal and regulatory authorities: where I reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, respond to a lawful request, enforce my agreements, prevent fraud or illegal activity, or protect the rights and safety of my customers or others.
Business successors: if The Patterned Peach is sold, reorganised or transferred, relevant information may be disclosed as part of that transaction where permitted by law and subject to appropriate safeguards.

I do not sell or rent customers’ personal information.

I do not currently use separate production partners, delivery companies, mailing-list providers, analytics services or customer-management systems to process Etsy customer information.

Data retention

I retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Order and transaction records may generally be retained for up to six years after the end of the relevant tax year so that I can meet UK tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and establish or defend legal claims.

Messages and other information that are not needed for legal, accounting, customer-service or dispute-resolution purposes will be deleted when they are no longer reasonably required.

Some information may need to be retained for longer if required by law or if it relates to an unresolved dispute, investigation or legal claim.

Etsy may retain information according to its own privacy policy and legal obligations.

International processing

The Patterned Peach is based in the United Kingdom, but Etsy and its service providers may process personal information in other countries.

I use Etsy to operate my shop and rely on Etsy to protect international transfers of personal information in accordance with its privacy policy and applicable data-protection laws. Depending on the destination, these protections may include adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards.

Information security

I take reasonable care when accessing and handling customer information and limit its use to the purposes described in this policy.

However, no online service or method of electronic communication can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Etsy is responsible for the security of information held within its own systems.

Your rights

Depending on where you live and subject to certain legal exceptions, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:

request access to the personal information I hold about you;
ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected;
request deletion of your information;
ask me to restrict how your information is used;

These rights are not absolute. For example, I may need to retain certain transaction information to comply with tax or legal obligations, resolve a dispute, or establish or defend a legal claim.

For personal information held directly by Etsy, you may need to contact Etsy through its Help Centre because I do not control Etsy’s systems or all information associated with your Etsy account.

Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy when my business practices, Etsy’s services or applicable legal requirements change. The date at the top of the policy shows when it was last updated.
