A design journey of travel, transport & architecture
Welcome to Poster Creative; a collection of my very own poster art and gifts, all designed by me, John.
Originally from north east England, I've have spent over 30 years (including a decade in London) working on advertising and branding campaigns for a host of household names. Now living in Dunfermline, Fife, I've turned my design passion into creating original travel, transport and architecture-themed art in my home studio.
My love of travel art stems from my admiration of the classic railway posters of the mid 20th century. My designs are influenced by those posters, my passion for graphic design, and of bold shapes and colours. Using my own references I produce each design digitally on an Apple Mac computer – using my own graphic interpretation to produce the final artwork.
Once I've spent many hours refining the designs, I then apply them to a range of high-quality, locally and ethically sourced products such as giclée prints, tea towels, postcards and magnets.
There's no AI or photoshop trickery used in any of my work – all work is drawn from scratch, and I make sure my products are of the highest quality with colours true to the original designs.
Recently, I was commissioned by LNER to produce a series of large-format illustrations which now adorn the walls of their First Class lounge at King's Cross station and their HQ in York. And as of June 2026 my Mallard locomotive illustration makes up part of the LNER Azuma 'Gresley 150' livery which celebrates 150 years since the birth of famous locomotive engineer Sir Nigel Gresley. You can also see a series of my original designs on the walls of LNER's new First Class lounge at Leuchars station in Fife. For me, being commissioned by the company that produced those classic posters I've admired for so long was a wonderful full-circle moment!
