About ThePrairieYankee
ThePrairieYankee is more than just handmade textiles and photography—it’s a reflection of a life filled with stories, lessons, and creativity.
My journey started in the tobacco fields of the Connecticut River Valley at the age of 14, where I learned the value of hard work and resilience. As life moved forward, I married a wonderful partner and, together, we raised three amazing children. Balancing family and career wasn’t always easy. I worked two jobs at times and eventually found my passion in the energy efficiency industry, where I climbed to the role of director—a position that inspired me and fueled my drive to create meaningful change.
After 37 years of marriage and a career I’m proud of, I retired a year ago, ready for a new chapter. ThePrairieYankee became my way to reconnect with creativity and share the wisdom life has gifted me.
The pieces in this shop reflect my belief in simplicity, beauty, and intentional living. Whether it’s a handmade tablecloth designed for family meals, an embroidered pillow to add warmth to your space, or photography that captures life’s quiet moments, each creation is inspired by the values that have shaped my life: dedication, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for the little things that make life beautiful.
Through ThePrairieYankee, I hope to share more than just items—I hope to share a perspective on living with purpose and joy. Thank you for supporting this journey and for allowing me to bring a touch of my story into your home.
