A: Home, online, or at a local print shop.

Download the file you need to your computer and print it like you would print anything else. Use thick paper and the highest quality output settings that your printer allows. Be sure your printer knows what paper size you’re using, and tell it to print the image as large as possible on that paper size. This is typically accomplished through a checkbox labeled “Fit to Page”, or “Scale to Fit Media”, or “Fit Picture to Frame”, etc., depending on your software. Check your margin settings to make sure that you are filling your print medium the way you want to.

Search for “online printing” or “custom printing” and you’ll get loads of results for companies that will do this for you. You are probably already familiar with the big names like Staples, Vistaprint, Snapfish, Shutterfly, among others. Throw the name of your final product into your search (“custom t shirt printing”) and you’ll do even better. It will probably pay to shop around as these services are often running different discounts and promotions, but you get to decide who want to work with.

If you have a local shop you like, find out how they’d like to receive the image. You can probably email it to them, or they may ask you to bring it in on a USB stick.

A: If you’re printing to paper then aspect ratio will matter. Use the table below to see which digital file corresponds to your paper or frame size. If you’re not printing to paper, you can pretty much use any of the files. They are all high-resolution JPEGs that can be scaled up or down a great deal without losing image quality. If you need an exact image size that isn’t included in your download, or if you want to print on something really big (like a king size duvet cover), just contact us with your order number and desired dimensions, and we should be able to email you what you need directly. We’re very nice like that.

A: You’ve got fairly endless options here. The conventional wisdom is that the thicker or heavier the paper, the better quality the print will be. We print our own wall art on 200gsm / 110lb Index / Matte coated paper stock, and we think it looks perfect. We wouldn’t recommend going much lighter, but feel free to use even heavier weights or maybe a glossy coating because, frankly, that looks awesome too.

Your purchased design is for personal use only. We’re open to conversations around licensing, but this particular purchase does not fall under that umbrella. All designs are © The Print Production. They are not to be copied, distributed, altered or sold.

Print results will vary depending on the printer and the medium.

If a printer asks for a release to print our images, you can find it in your Etsy order receipt.

Refunds are not provided due to the “instant” part of the instant download. If you’re not completely happy with your order, let’s talk about it. We’re grownups; we can definitely work it out.

And don’t even get us started on the complexity of on-screen vs. printed colors, or the variations between different monitors (or different eyeballs). It’s a whole can of worms. Hopefully, you’re not in a position where you need to color match something exactly. If you are, you probably know better than to try to wing it on a webpage.
