From one family to another
Welcome to The Ruby Nest! I am a breastfeeding, co-sleeping, gentle parenting parent, and have spent over a year doing intensive research, speaking to multiple professionals in all different areas and speaking to hundreds of other parents to find out their experiences.
When I had our baby, I was told my nipples were ‘too flat’ to breastfeed, and that I could only leave the hospital if I gave him a bottle of formula. Not knowing any better, I left in tears, bottle feeding my baby a combo of breastmilk and formula.
Once home I was bombarded with anecdotes of ‘don’t make a rod for your own back’, ‘put the baby down’ etc. By the time my baby was 2 weeks old I was miserable and crying constantly, wondering what the hell had happened.
I decided that something had to change, and researched everything I was going through. I learnt how to breastfeed successfully, and that anyone can breastfeed, no matter the size of your boobs and nipples. I also learnt that it’s impossible to spoil a baby, and they need you to hold them and be with them. So I started baby wearing, contact napping and co-sleeping. By 3 weeks old our lives had changed drastically, I was successfully breastfeeding and our baby was happier than ever.
From that point on I knew I wanted to help other struggling parents, to end the stigma of attachment parenting, breastfeeding, co-sleeping and to spread factual information that is desperately lacking in our current society.
I’m so excited to start this journey, and we have so many exciting products coming out that have been in the pipeline for such a long time.
