Vintage products from reclamation yards can be expensive and hard to find. Our vision in setting up The Rustic Merchant was to provide excellent quality, hand forged products at affordable prices, to make your renovation project a success.

We are constantly expanding our range, but if there is something in particular you are looking for, please get in touch and we will do our best to help.

Blacksmiths
We have spent many years sourcing skilled craftspeople who could not only make, but also understand, traditional ironmongery, with the ability to produce the styles and quality that we required. All our wrought iron products are traditionally made on the anvil, and the designs are copies of authentic, traditional items.

Our cast iron products are also hand-finished.

Rustic Vintage Farmhouse Hand Forged Wrought Iron

Welcome to The Rustic Merchant

The Rustic Merchant is based in rural Somerset and offers a wide range of hand forged and traditional Ironmongery, from hooks to hinges for building renovations or projects in need of period features.

We have spent many years building our range of products and invested a lot of time sourcing artisan blacksmiths who are understanding of traditional hardware and have the skills to reproduce it.

All our wrought iron products are produced by hand, meaning they are made on the anvil in the traditional way and will show signs of hand forging.

Our cast iron products are also produced in small foundries and are hand cast. Once cast they are hand finished, again making each item unique.

Our online shop stocks coat hooks, hinges, handles, bolts, latches and many more items that look original and feel authentic. These will not be found in DIY stores.

If there is something in particular you need for your project, don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will try to help.
