I remember as a child watching my father, an extraordinary artist, work for days before realizing so much time had passed so engrossed he was in his project. And I wanted to know what that was like, that all-encompassing feeling of passion in what you were working on made the world disappear. I am not the artist my father is, but I like to believe I inherited some of his talent even if I choose to channel it differently. I am not a painter, but a crafter and I now know what that feeling is like. I cannot go a day, sometimes not even an hour without coming up with some idea of creating something. I see an item in the store and go ‘pah, I can make that better at home!’ and will quickly scribble the idea in my handy idea journal. The list never ends, it only grows and that in and of itself can be stressful.
Jewelry and paper crafts offer a very fun and large kiddy pool to play in. I often just sit with all my supplies in front of me and run through dozens of possibilities until one idea really sticks out. Then I begin. Here I offer you the results of my love and artistic labor. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
