I didn't design this chart because I read a book about habits.
I designed it because I failed to build a working-out habit four times in a row. The gym, the treadmill, just showing up at the gym, walking around the block. Each one quit. Then I tried something different: instead of adding a habit, I subtracted one. No artificial sweeteners for 21 days. Six weeks later, I was free of them.
Fifteen years later, they still haven't come back.
That's when I understood what the chart was actually for. Not discipline. Not streaks. Not accountability. It's for negotiating honestly with yourself about scale. Finding the yes that's small enough to be real, in the life you're actually living right now.
I've been making versions of this chart on paper since 2017. The one you're downloading is the same chart, cleaned up and printed well.
Some charts I finished. A lot I didn't. The ones I didn't finish still told me something useful: the yes wasn't small enough yet.
That's the whole method. Start smaller. Begin again without judgment. The chart doesn't remember the last chart.
