Care instructions
What should I do when I receive my plant?
Shipping can be stressful for houseplants. Please follow these steps when your plant arrives:
Carefully unpackage your plant and remove it from the box as soon as possible.
Inspect the plant for any shipping damage.
If there are any issues, please contact our shop within 24 hours of delivery.
Loose soil is normal and expected during shipping.
Water the plant if the soil feels dry.
Remove any dry or damaged leaves caused by transit.
Allow up to 2 weeks for your plant to adjust to its new environment before repotting.
Your plant may look a little tired at first—this is completely normal and part of the adjustment process.

What does it mean when a plant is considered Non-Toxic and Pet-Friendly?
* Plants that are considered to be Non-Toxic and Pet-Friendly generally have no reaction when handled.
* Non-Toxic does not mean the plants are edible still keep plants out of reach of children and pets.
Some plants considered Non-Toxic may result in some issues if consumed.
* Plants sold on TheSpade&Root are not for consumption and should never be ingested.

What does it mean when a plant is considered Toxic and Non Pet-Friendly?
Toxic and Non Pet Friendly plants can cause skin irritations, stomach upsets, and burning of the mouth and throat when handled or consumed. Do not eat the plant, leaves, flowering parts or berries if plant produces them.
All Toxic plants should be kept out of reach of children, adults (especially those with dementia) and pets. Sap or juices from the plant can cause irritation to the skin or eyes.
* Wear gloves when handling the plant or pruning the leaves and wash your hands with soap and water.
* Immediately contact your veterinarian or doctor if a problem occurs.
