About TheTriangleStudioNC
-
-
The pots are thrown by hand on a potter's wheel, with spouts, knobs, and handles added the next day.
-
The patterns on the pots are carved free-hand and inlayed with slip in the 'leather hard' stage (about half dry.)
-
The kiln burns only wood and takes four days to fire.
Functional Pots that Reflect History Against Modern Aesthetic
I make pots for a range of functions in the house- pots for the table, pots for storage, and pots for decoration. I reference historical forms that have been used continuously for cooking, serving, and storage and give them new life as modern functional objects that play off of our industrialized lives. My carved decorations are about human’s triumph over nature, our organization of wild plants into domestic gardens, our genetic modifying to create the perfect flower or fruit. As humans, we strive to create symmetry out of chaos; pattern out of disorganization.
