From art saver to art creator
Mi abuelo fue pintor y expuso por toda California entre los años sesenta y ochenta. Siempre me encantó estar en su estudio y verlo pintar, y aún recuerdo el olor a trementina y óleo como si fuera ayer. Falleció en la década del 2000 y en 2020 heredé el contenido de su taller y estudio.
Muchas de las pinturas se habían dañado durante el almacenamiento, pero no podía soportar ver cómo se desperdiciaba la última obra de mi abuelo. Comencé a limpiar, restaurar y barnizar todas las pinturas que pude salvar, con el objetivo de que el mundo pudiera disfrutarlas.
Empecé mi tienda en Etsy en 2020 con ese objetivo: compartir su arte con el mundo. Cuatro años y casi cincuenta pinturas después, me complace decir que casi todas las obras restantes están limpias, enmarcadas y colgadas en paredes de toda Norteamérica.
¿Y qué sigue para mí? Bueno, durante esos cuatro años limpiando las creaciones de mi abuelo, descubrí que mi deseo de crear arte se reavivó. Así que, al enviar al mundo sus últimas pinturas al óleo, estoy llenando ese vacío en mi corazón (y en mi casa) con mis propias pinturas acrílicas y diseños de joyería. Así como él me transmitió su amor por el arte y su colección, ahora esta tienda que creé para sus obras pasa a mis obras. Gracias para siempre, abuelo.

My grandfather was a painter who exhibited throughout California in the 1960-1980s. I always loved being in his studio and watching him paint, and I can still smell the turpentine and oil paints like it was yesterday. He passed away in the 2000s and in 2020 I inherited the contents of his workshop and studio.
Many of the paintings had been damaged in storage, but I couldn't bear to see the last of my grandfather's work go to waste. I began to clean, restore, and re-varnish as many of the paintings as I could save, with the goal of getting them out into the world where they could be enjoyed.
I started my Etsy in 2020 with that goal: to share his art with the world. Four years and nearly fifty paintings later, I am happy to say that nearly all of the remaining artworks are cleaned, framed, and on walls across North America!
So what's next for me? Well, during that four years cleaning my grandpa's creations, I found that my own desire to create art was rekindled. So as I send the last of his oil paintings out into the world, I am filling that void in my heart (and my house) with my own acrylic paintings and jewelry designs. Just as he passed his love of art to me, and passed his art collection to me, now this shop I created for his works passes to my works. Thank you forever, grandpa.
