There's Never Enough Denim
Ever since I was in my teens I wanted to start a little online shop selling something, my end goal was always clothes but I to get there, in my mind, I needed to start smaller. I bought loads of jewellery making supplies and made some pieces and sold them on another online shop site but it went nowhere. I had other ideas which I tried but nothing really stuck.
It wasn't until this past year when I had to design my graduate collection in university that I realised; it's always been about denim. I can't get away from the stuff. Ever since I was little I have been proudly wearing denim whether it be on trend or not; fringed, embellished, a frayed hem set, a multi-coloured stripy set, wide legged, flared, dungarees... You name a denim piece and I've worn it somewhere along the line.
For something that I have always loved, it seems strange that in the past I have always tried to push it to the back of my mind, not fully embracing it. Until my graduate collection. Every single piece (except one actually) was denim.
That's when it hit me. I should use the denim textile technique that I developed in university to inspire me to carry on creating.
