I'm a wool head........
I’m Helen an Indie dyer of yarns, based in East London I work from home running my cottage industry. In between yarn dyeing and school runs (yes I’m a Mother to the future, no pressure) I mostly Knit, watching films, drinking tea and do my best to avoid tiding up!
Knitting with hand-dyed yarns and a true love of colour Has lead me here. So lets not hear “I’m not a good enough knitter!!!” Get your self some lush yarn that makes you want to craft and throw all your K1/P1 at it!
We use a vast range of dye techniques to creat short change colours ( to avoid pooling all though I love a good pool party and with the right pattern can still be achieved) along with our ZIP yarn that satisfy the curiosity of introducing colour to your project work without fear of neon overload. But hey if you need to itch that colour scratch......... say no more, and remember ENJOY EVERY STITCH!!!!!
Make a project count!
All ethically sourced Yarns.
I insure all our high quality acid dye is diffused and keep water wast to a minimum.
For the love of yarn!
I advice you hand wash your finished projects. You have worked hard on them.
I rise all yarn to ensure there is no dye bleed (not normal colour pouring like wine from yarn when wet), some colour tint may occur from strong coloured yarns (blocking bath has slight colour drop is normal), if you are working with a mix of yarn please swatch and wash to check for cross colour continuation ( a very rare thing but never say never). You may want to pre rinse yarn before you start work.
* please note from my own experience wool washes can/dose cause colour realise more then water alone, I still use them and haven't notice any brightness loss from yarn in doing so.
But mostly ENJOY EVERY STITCH always be proud, faults and all.
Grab a cuppa and your knitting, stay a while and explore my shop!
