My story starts back about 12-13 years ago. My cousins both work in a USPC Facility. USPC facilities run contracts with WOTC to print magic the gathering cards. Inside the facility are plates from the oldest of old cards (i.e. Black Lotus, Time Walk, Juzam Djinn, Dual Lands, ect.)
I have asked my cousins several times if they could foil an old Beta Black Lotus for me, just for fun. They were uncertain 13 years ago, but 10 years ago my life changed forever.
On my 30th Birthday, my cousins presented to me a full power 9 Beta set, except the whole set was FOIL. It was so beautiful that I almost cried.
I started using those cards in vintage tournaments with friends at my LGC (I had the originals in my binder), and people wanted to buy them so badly. The demand was so high that I ended up making a deal with my cousins where, they would print me small amounts of replica's of magic the gathering cards, and I would sell them.
These cards are REAL CARDS. I have had 2 cards that I know of Slabbed and Graded. The buyer didn't understand what the cards were. She just thought she got a killer deal. I suppose she really did. I would say 30% of our cards are made of real deal, blue core, WOTC left over discarded card stock. The other 70% we buy from a German Black Core Sugar Foil Card Stock Supplier. We also buy our own ink. We also use a smaller Heidelberg printing press, than the standard ones that produce the mass quantities of MTG cards that are out there today.
Our cards have the same matte backed feel of real magic cards. So if someone pulled your card out of a deck protector to inspect it, in order to figure out if the cards is real or fake, their fingeres would scream to their brain, THE CARD IS REAL. The cards weigh the same as all other Magic the Gathering Cards (1.8 Grams). The cards Smell like real magic cards, it may sound weird to mention this, but I've seen people sniff cards before. =(O,..,O)=
