Tatreez- Palestinian Roots from within the Diaspora
Our journey began with a deep commitment to preserving and sharing the beauty and significance of Palestinian Tatreez and Thoubs. Over the years, we have collected these traditional garments from Palestinian artists and collectors across Palestine, Jordan, and the U.S. Each Thoub holds a unique story, with its stitches, colors, and designs reflecting the emotions, memories, and regional identities of the Palestinian women who create them. We study the symbols and meanings behind each piece, tracing their origins to honor the rich cultural heritage they represent. For us, Tatreez is not just art, but a way to protect and celebrate the personal and collective narrative of Palestinian women.
Our project aims to educate and preserve the sacredness of Tatreez while ensuring its safe ownership and appreciation. We focus on collaborating with those who understand the cultural importance of these pieces, ensuring that each Thoub is respected as a symbol of Palestinian resistance, joy, struggle, and resilience. By connecting with small businesses and designers, we support the artisans who create these beautiful pieces, furthering the mission to keep this vital art form alive and celebrated across generations.
