After the attack on September 11, 2001 I found myself laid off from my job of 18 years. I tried unsuccessfully for months to find a job. With no prospects in sight, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Armed with the skills that I already possessed, I used the last of our savings and bought embroidery supplies and a machine. ThreadWorks was started in one corner of my bedroom.

It’s wonderful to be able to just go upstairs each morning to get to work. It’s also pretty neat to just leave it up there when the day is over!
